Great Salt Lake Marina

Sails and Mirrors/ Reflections In The Wind

Like poetry

and prose

elequently mounted

from the yardarms

in spirit flight

with Mayan stardust

and all the colors of butterflies.

Moonlight

caresses them

sunlight embraces them

as they reach

for mysteries

too thin

for the human eye.

Wind-spun gowns

delicatly trimmed

for roach and camber

sing the pure truths of propulsion

while songs of joy and curiosity

gleefuly intoxicate

thirsty ears.

In slow dream-motion

over a liquid dance floor

they flirt with the supernatural

and offer temptations to reach

unreachable horizons

somehow reflecting

our divine imaginations

Slowly beating like drums

in rhythmic simplicity

they soon whisper

aerodynamic metaphors

of a sublime sojourn

tacking us across the waves

shimmering inside the heart.

Fires ignite, then glow

inside body, mind and soul

now fully-rigged

with passion and purpose

to sail over that abyss

which separates

us from ourselves

Our sails then take our breath

and become like mirrors

reflecting a polished inner language

of wind, water, wonder

and awe

finally letting us see

who we really are.
